My Vision for Minnesota

Bold, science-based leadership for a stronger, healthier, and more equitable community.

  • I believe healthcare is a human right, and every Minnesotan deserves affordable, high-quality care based on medical expertise — not political interference. I will protect public health by standing up for science, expanding vaccine access, and ensuring no one is denied care because of cost, immigration status, or where they live. My focus is simple: doctor-prescribed care, strong community health systems, and healthcare that meets people’s individual needs.

LEGISLATION I WOULD ADVANCE IN MINNESOTA

    • Guarantee Healthcare Access for All: I would support legislation to move Minnesota toward universal, government-run, comprehensive healthcare coverage — building on proposals like a Minnesota Health Plan — so every resident can access care regardless of income or status.

    • Protect Public Health and Vaccine Access: I would champion laws that expand vaccine access through pharmacies and community providers, strengthen public health infrastructure, and combat misinformation with transparent, science-based education.

    • Defend Doctor-Patient Decision-Making: I would advance legislation that protects patient autonomy and medical privacy across all forms of care and oppose laws that insert politicians into personal medical decisions.

    • Hospital Staffing Ratios: Support legislation establishing minimum hospital staffing ratios for nurses and critical care staff to ensure patients receive the care they need, reduce burnout, and improve overall patient outcomes.

  • I believe urgent climate action and clean environmental stewardship are essential to protect Minnesota’s health, communities, and future. I will fight for clean air, clean water, and a transition to clean energy that cuts emissions, while creating good-paying green jobs across the state. My vision includes empowering Minnesotans with equitable access to sustainable solutions and building a resilient economy that works for everyone.

LEGISLATION I WOULD CHAMPION IN MINNESOTA

    • Advance 100% Clean, Carbon-Free Energy: I would build on Minnesota’s 100% clean or carbon-free electricity by 2040 goals — ensuring utilities expand wind, solar, and other clean energy sources — while centering equitable workforce development and local job training to grow a strong green economy.

    • Accelerate Transportation Emissions Reductions: I would support strengthening and fully implementing Minnesota’s Clean Transportation Standard (CTS) to require meaningful reductions in carbon intensity from fuels and accelerate electric vehicle infrastructure, helping lower CO₂ emissions from cars and trucks and reduce air pollution statewide.

    • Expand Clean Energy Workforce Development: I would push for legislation to create and expand green workforce training programs that connect Minnesotans — especially in underserved and transitioning communities — with jobs in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate resilience, aligning with the state’s Climate Action Framework.

    • Protect and Enhance Clean Air and Water Standards: I would champion maintaining and potentially enhancing state clean air and water protections to reflect the latest science on climate and health impacts, ensuring Minnesota’s environment is safeguarded for future generations (including legislative efforts like environmental justice permitting reform and emissions safeguards similar to proposals advanced by lawmakers).

  • I believe housing is a basic human need, and Minnesota must take bold action to ensure everyone has a safe, stable place to live. I will fight for practical, people-centered housing solutions that increase supply, protect renters, and meet Minnesotans where they are.

    MY HOUSING PRIORITIES INCLUDE:

    • Zoning Reform & Missing Middle Housing: Reform local zoning codes to allow more housing types — duplexes, triplexes, townhomes, and small apartment buildings — so communities can increase density and housing supply responsibly.

    • Middle-Income & Cooperative Housing: Develop new rental and cooperative housing options for middle-income households to expand access and stabilize communities.

    • Affordable Housing Investments: Fully fund the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency and housing infrastructure bonds to expand affordable rental and homeownership options for low- and middle-income families, including workforce and family housing.

    • Housing First & Harm Reduction: Advance a Housing First model grounded in harm-reduction principles that meets people where they are and provides stable housing as the foundation for health and recovery.

    • Deeply Affordable & Public Housing: Preserve existing public housing and build new housing for people with Extremely Low Households (ELI).

    • Manufactured Home Community Ownership: Support resident ownership of manufactured housing communities to prevent displacement and build long-term stability.

    • Eviction Protections & Rental Assistance: Support an eviction moratorium during ongoing federal immigration enforcement actions, paired with fully funding and expanding the Emergency Rental Assistance program to keep families housed. Prohibit eviction threats or harassment based on immigration status and ensure rental assistance is accessible, confidential, and safe for all eligible renters.

    • Permanent Supportive Housing: Fully support and expand permanent supportive housing for people experiencing chronic homelessness.

  • I believe every Minnesota family deserves the security of affordable housing, accessible child care, and quality healthcare without being priced out of their communities. I will fight to lower housing and rent costs, expand child care support so families aren’t stretched thin just to get by, and make healthcare more affordable and accessible for working families across our state. My vision is grounded in practical solutions that lift families up — investing in people, stabilizing costs, and strengthening our economy so everyone can thrive.

LEGISLATION I WOULD MOVE IN MINNESOTA

    • Comprehensive Child Care Affordability: I would support and refine proposals like the Great Start Affordability Act and dependent care tax credit reforms to help families pay no more than a manageable share of their income toward child care and expand eligibility for subsidies on a sliding scale, lowering the steep cost burden many Minnesota families face. I would also work to fully fund childcare assistance, raise provider reimbursement rates, and build a childcare system that works for families and workers across the state.

    • Healthcare Affordability & Cost Transparency: I would push for legislation that implements strong recommendations from Minnesota’s Health Care Affordability Advisory Task Force, including cost-control measures, transparency reforms, and strategies to reduce unnecessary spending so care and coverage are more affordable for everyday Minnesotans.

    • Expand MinnesotaCare and Medicaid: I would work to expand eligibility, protect benefits, and increase provider reimbursement so coverage translates into real access — especially for rural communities and communities of color. I also support removing private health insurance companies from managing our public healthcare programs to reduce cost and increase access for patients.

    • Lower Prescription Drug Costs: I would push to strengthen Minnesota’s Prescription Drug Affordability Board and cap out-of-pocket costs for essential medications, so no one has to choose between their health and their rent.

  • I believe a strong local economy means strengthening small businesses, making sure the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share, and easing the tax burden on middle-class homeowners. I will fight for a tax system that supports entrepreneurs and families — not one that lets large corporations dodge their responsibilities while everyday people struggle. My vision is about building a thriving Minnesota where Main Street businesses flourish, taxes are fair and equitable, and communities have the resources they need to prosper.

LEGISLATION I WOULD MOVE IN MINNESOTA

    • Progressive Tax Fairness: I would champion legislation to close corporate tax loopholes and ensure corporations pay taxes on profits earned in Minnesota, generating revenue that can be reinvested in our communities.

    • Wealth and Fair Share Reforms: I would support tax reform to ask the wealthiest Minnesotans to contribute a fairer share, including strengthening the state’s progressive income tax structure and exploring targeted reforms that ensure the richest households contribute equitably to funding public services.

    • Property Tax Relief for Families: I would push for legislation to reduce the burden of property taxes on lower income and middle-class homeowners — including expanding state relief programs and increasing Local Government Aid so that funding for schools and services doesn’t rely so heavily on regressive property taxes.

    • Small Business Support: I would advance tax credits and technical support for small and locally owned businesses, ensuring they have access to capital and relief from burdens that disproportionately favor large corporations, helping our Main Street economies grow and succeed.

  • A strong public education system shapes the future of our communities by preparing the next generation to think critically, participate civically, and lead with compassion. I believe every student deserves access to a fully funded, high-quality education—from pre-K through post-secondary—that recognizes their strengths, honors their identities, and prepares them to thrive in a changing world.

Minnesota has taken important steps through the Read Act to invest in research-based literacy instruction, especially in the early grades. But strong policy must be matched with sustained funding, thoughtful implementation, and local flexibility. We need to ensure schools have long-term resources for training and materials, expand our focus to the critical early childhood years, protect culturally and linguistically responsive approaches, and give educators the time and support needed to implement change well—so literacy policy becomes lasting student success, not an unfunded mandate.

Our schools should be places where confidence, courage, and curiosity are nurtured, not where learning is reduced to a single, narrow measure of success. Literacy and learning are more than one linear path; students bring diverse languages, cultures, and ways of knowing into the classroom, and our policies must reflect that. We need to move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach to instruction and invest in locally responsive, research-based models that emphasize application, self-regulation, and real-world learning—not just test performance.

In communities like Robbinsdale and Hopkins, where difficult decisions about school closures reflect broader funding challenges, it’s clear that schools are more than buildings—they are the heart of our neighborhoods. I’m committed to building an education system that is equitable, inclusive, and fully resourced, so every student can succeed and every community can grow stronger.

LEGISLATION I WOULD MOVE IN MINNESOTA

    • Fully fund state’s education formula

    • Expand universal pre-k

    • Increase state support for special education, multilingual learners, and mental health services

    • Fair pay and affordable healthcare for educators

    • Reduce administrative and testing burdens that limit teaching time

    • Invest in BIPOC teacher pathway programs to better reflect our communities

  • I believe every Minnesotan deserves to live in safe neighborhoods and attend safe schools where our children, families, and neighbors can thrive without fear of gun violence. I will fight for commonsense gun violence prevention and public safety policies that reduce harm, strengthen accountability, and invest in community-based solutions. My vision is a Minnesota where public safety is rooted in prevention, equity, and effective laws that protect our communities while respecting responsible ownership.

LEGISLATION I WOULD MOVE IN MINNESOTA

    Commonsense Gun Violence Prevention

    • Assault Weapons and High-Capacity Magazine Ban: Support legislation banning assault-style firearms and high-capacity magazines to reduce the potential for mass shootings and keep dangerous weapons off our streets.

    • Eliminate Ghost Gun Loopholes: Close loopholes that allow untraceable “ghost guns” to be manufactured or sold without registration or background checks, ensuring law enforcement can track firearms used in crimes.

    • Strengthen Red-Flag/Extreme Risk Protection Orders: Expand and improve implementation of Extreme Risk Protection Orders so family members, employers, and law enforcement can intervene when someone poses a serious risk to themselves or others.

    • Consumer Safety – Childproof Handguns: Require that all new handgun models sold in Minnesota include childproofing features, helping prevent accidental shootings and keeping children safe in homes with firearms.

    • Microstamping for New Handguns: Require that all new handgun models sold in the state include microstamping technology, so spent shell casings can be traced to their origin, improving public safety and aiding law enforcement in solving crimes.

    Community Safety

    • Public Health Approach to Safety: Support a public health framework for violence prevention that treats gun violence as preventable, prioritizing data-driven solutions, early intervention, and community leadership.

    • Community Violence Prevention: Invest in evidence-based, community-led violence intervention programs focused on youth services, conflict mediation, and addressing the root causes of violence.

    • School Safety Investments: Support counselors, mental health professionals, and strong community partnerships that keep schools safe.

    • Survivor Services and Victim Advocacy: Expand sustained funding for survivor-centered services, including trauma-informed counseling, emergency housing, legal advocacy, and culturally responsive supports for victims of gun violence and other violent crime.

    • Youth Diversion and Prevention Programs: Invest in youth diversion initiatives that keep young people out of the criminal legal system by connecting them to education, mentoring, mental health services, and community-based supports instead of incarceration.

    • Restorative Justice Programs: Expand restorative justice models in schools and communities that focus on accountability, healing, and repairing harm — reducing recidivism while strengthening community trust.

    • Hospital- and Community-Based Violence Intervention: Increase funding for hospital-based and community-led violence interruption programs that work directly with people at the highest risk of experiencing or committing violence.

  • I believe we must defend and strengthen a democracy that protects everyone, especially the most vulnerable, so that every Minnesotan — regardless of background, identity, or status — has equal rights and a voice in our shared future. I will protect democratic rights for all, including immigrant rights and LGBTQ+ rights, fully fund our government and democratic institutions, and ensure our civic processes work for the people — not powerful special interests. My vision is a democracy that is inclusive, resilient, and accountable, where rights are protected, and every voice matters.

LEGISLATION I WOULD MOVE IN MINNESOTA

    • Expand Voting Access and Protection: Advocate for laws that build on recent pro-democracy reforms like the Minnesota Voting Rights Act, which strengthens protections against discriminatory voting practices and ensures every eligible voter can participate safely and securely at the ballot box.

    • Small Donor Campaign Finance Reform: Champion a small donor match program to reduce the influence of wealthy special interests in elections, amplifying the voices of everyday Minnesotans and leveling the political playing field.

    • Immigrant Rights and Civic Inclusion: Support legislation that expands access to civic participation and protections for immigrant communities, such as driver’s licenses for all residents and safeguards against local government involvement in deportation actions, ensuring everyone can live and participate in their communities with dignity.

    • Protect and Expand LGBTQ+ Rights: Advance protections that build on laws shielding gender-affirming care and expand anti-discrimination safeguards in employment, housing, and public accommodations, reinforcing Minnesota’s role as a place where LGBTQ+ individuals and families are safe and respected.

    • Fully Fund Democratic Institutions: Push for a state budget that adequately funds election infrastructure, civic education, and community outreach to strengthen democratic participation and ensure our institutions serve all Minnesotans effectively.

  • I am running for the Minnesota House because I believe our state government must be strong and proactive in standing up for our communities, especially when federal actions threaten our safety, rights, and dignity. I will resist federal overreach into our streets and neighborhoods by protecting civil liberties and ensuring Minnesota’s policies reflect our values. I will also advocate for fully funded federal programs, so Minnesotans have what they need and can afford life, from housing and healthcare to education and economic supports.

LEGISLATION I WOULD MOVE IN MINNESOTA

    • Protect Civil Rights During Federal Actions: I would support state laws that strengthen protections against racial profiling and unlawful search and seizure, clarify that state law enforcement cannot assist in federal immigration actions without a judicial warrant, and prohibit federal agents from covering their faces during operations, ensuring transparency and accountability.

    • Virtual and Accessible Immigration Services: I would advance legislation to expand state support for virtual immigration court appearances and community legal services so that immigrants and their families can access justice and due process without undue hardship.

    • Legal Support and Rights Education: I would champion funding for community-based “Know Your Rights” programs and legal defense resources to ensure Minnesotans — especially immigrants — are aware of their legal protections when interacting with federal or state authorities.

    • Fully Funded Federal Programs for Minnesotans: I would advocate at the state level for partnerships and policy frameworks that ensure federal programs — like housing assistance, nutrition, healthcare, and education funding — are fully funded, fully utilized, and accessible so Minnesotans can afford life’s essentials and thrive.
